Charity

The College has long been proud of its fundraising achievements, and actively encourages students and staff to take a positive role in charitable efforts whenever possible.

Each year the College nominates a charity to support with a host of fundraising activities over the period. This year we have chosen to contribute to a Plymouth-wide initiative led by The Herald newspaper to raise money for the NSPCC, where we are aiming to raise at least £5,000.

In addition to this, many of our staff and students raise funds for charities close to their own hearts - over the past year we’ve had sponsored leg-waxes for children with cancer, sponsored runs for Sport Relief and a triathlon to raise money for a student to compete for Great Britain in the Paralympic Games to name but a few.

Fairtrade

City College Plymouth is a ‘Fairtrade College’ which means that we have made a commitment to supporting and using Fairtrade products throughout the College, including in the on-site catering outlets, in meetings and in our offices. Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. To find out more about our Fairtrade approach, you can view the Fairtrade Policy, or for more general information, take a look at the Fairtrade Foundation’s website.
