We want you to be able to make the most of your learning experiences at the College. If you are worried or facing any sort of difficulties, this is likely to reflect on your ability to learn and so we have developed a caring, experienced team of staff who can provide you with individual support to help you cope during this time.

Personal Tutors

You will be allocated one particular tutor, who has been specially trained to give you support and guidance on your course. Your personal tutor will help you settle into the College, hold regular meetings to discuss your progress and/or any difficulties faced, and discuss with you the best way to deal with them. We hope that you will feel comfortable discussing any concerns you have with them.

Student Services

If you have any personal problems that you don’t feel you can discuss with your personal tutor then you can turn to another source. Our Student Services team offers confidential counselling and other specialist advice services. You can find out more information from our Student Services information desks, where you will find a range of help and guidance including careers information, funding advice and tutorial support.

If your course is part of our partnership with Plymouth University you may also visit their Careers Centre or website.

Counselling and Mediation

Within our Student Services team we have specially trained counsellors who can talk to you about any difficulty you are experiencing, whether it is something to do with College, a job or home life - and you can do this safe in the knowledge that it is an entirely confidential service. You can arrange an appointment with a counsellor at either centre.

We want to safeguard you against harassment, bullying or discrimination. These behaviours are not tolerated and we have put measures in place to deal with any complaints. If you are being subjected to anything like this, then we provide a confidential service to give you support and refer you to appropriate sources of help if necessary.
