Mackenzie Dunn

Travel and tourism student Mackenzie Dunn can’t wait to start pursuing her dream career as cabin crew, but in the meantime, she is hoping to increase her options by studying for a Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism.

Mackenzie joined the College from All Saints Academy Plymouth and said she is enjoying everything about college life. Mackenzie explained: “I originally started a different course, but it just wasn’t the right fit for me. Someone suggested travel and tourism and I looked into the Level 2 Air Cabin Crew Diploma. It just sounded completely different and lots of fun so I decided to go for it.”

Involving lots of role-play and practical work, the air cabin crew course is perfect for preparing those who know that the jetset lifestyle is for them, but it is also great for helping anyone looking to acquire high-class customer service skills.

“We spend quite a lot of time in the College’s mock air cabin, which is so much fun, but this is also helpful for practising presentations in whatever setting. It’s really great for building your confidence: I was quite shy when I joined the College, but now I feel really comfortable talking to strangers.”

Mackenzie explained the level 3 qualification was quite different to the air cabin crew course, but she was enjoying a more challenging course and learning about the overall industry at a much deeper level.

“Whilst I would love to go on to become a full-time cabin crew member, I also want to keep my options open and this course means I could go on to work as a travel agent, a travel rep, or a tour guide abroad – there are loads of options.

“I have a part-time job in a clothing store and doing this course has really boosted my confidence when talking to customers, so I think it has been good for any job that involves communication with the public.

“One of the best things about studying travel and tourism is the staff: they are all so lovely and they will do their best to make sure you get the best grade possible. I would recommend travel and tourism to anyone.”
