What's it all about? 

On this course we develop your interest further in business and will expand your knowledge to take in the more complicated issues such as investigating business activity, developing customer relations and planning financial control. By the end of the first year you will complete the subsidiary diploma which will enable you to progress to the extended diploma. When you have completed this course you will leave with a qualification that will appeal to employers as well as a wide range of universities.

Progression 

On successful completion you may progress to:
• one of the following foundation degrees at the College - accounting and finance, administration management, business, human resources management, legal studies or purchasing and supply
• a university of your choice
• a wide range of careers in, for example, sales and marketing, accounting and finance, data management, events management and
retail management.

Entry Requirements 

  • Four to five GCSEs at grades A*-C (including English and maths)
  • A BTEC first diploma in a related subject
  • An NVQ level 2/technical certificate in a related subject
  • A higher diploma
  • Successful completion of an Apprenticeship programme
  • Equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience

One year

There are no exams - all assessment is by coursework.

• customer service.

If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course (Please note: this does not apply to foundation degrees or access to higher education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding).

Please note that fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2011 / 12 (August 2011 - July 2012). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2012 / 13.

Case Studies

Seven budding business and finance diploma entrepreneurs have created an exciting new business as part of their course. The Yum Yum sweet stall offers 20 different varieties of your favourite sweets including strawberry laces, fizzy cola bottles and chocolate raisins!

Look out for the YUM YUM sweet stall in the main corridor at Kings Road - open daily between 11.00am to 1.00pm until Friday 17 December.

And better still, 10% of the overall profit made will go to the local charity, Jeremiah’s Journey, which helps children and their families deal with bereavement.
