What's it all about?

This foundation degree programme is designed to help you become a qualified, employment-ready graduate who can play a leading role in a wide range of business related careers.

The range of subjects covered have a clear emphasis on developing your management skills and knowledge relevant to the world of work - plus making practical links between theory and the demands of modern day management.

Highly experienced tutors will guide you through subjects such as marketing, finance, economics, human resource management and business law to give you a solid overall grounding in the field of business and management.

The smaller class sizes will enable individually tailored attention and outstanding support from our specialist tutors, plus you will be assigned a personal tutor to help guide and support you and your studies.

Progression

On successful completion you may be eligible to progress to:

the final year of the BA (Hons) Business Administration degree at Plymouth University
the final year of a range of other business related degrees at Plymouth University
the second year of other business related honours degree courses at Plymouth University
the final year of business honours degrees at alternative universities
a wide range of careers in business, management, personnel, marketing, finance, accounting and public administration.

What does the course involve?

The Foundation Degree in Business Management will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to be sucessful within industry. The modules that are delivered over the course of the two-year degree include:

Plus one option

Year 2

Research Skills
Strategy and Innovation
Operations Management
Marketing, Planning and Communications
Plus two options

Entry Requirements

We welcome applications from those who have all of the following:

80 UCAS tariff points (tariff points can be obtained from any eligible course - for more details see the UCAS tariff tables here)
Four GCSEs at grades C or above, to include English and maths
or
equivalent qualifications
relevant work experience.

Should entry requirements not be met then individual cases will be considered.

Are there any exams?

Subjects are assessed by methods such as individual reports, presentations, group work, seminar led sessions – there are no formal examinations.

Duration

Two years

When can I study?

Full-time - various times over approximately four days. Part-time students can elect to do either one full day, an afternoon and evening or two evenings per week.

Business Benefits

Students who successfully complete this foundation degree will be able to demonstrate a high level of both academic and work related knowledge, and will have developed a range of transferable skills. This will enable them to make an immediate contribution to the workplace.
