What's it all about? 

This course is aimed at those already having practical experience of inspection and testing of LV electrical installations who wish to become certificated. This course is not suitable for beginners.

Progression 

This course enhances prospects in the field of electrical testing and inspection.

Entry Requirements 

Candidates should hold recognised electrical installation qualifications and be certified to current IEE regulations level.

In our experience in order to be successful on this level of programme you will need to have a good working knowledge of electrical installation requirements and regulations and be fully conversant with the practical aspects of testing.

It is essential that course delegates bring with them a copy of BS 7671:2008 The 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (ISBN 978-0-86341-844-0) and the IEE Guidance Note 3 Inspection and Testing, 5th Edition (ISBN 978-0-86341-857-0).

Duration 

Three days plus practical assessments and also two and a half hour written exam.

Business Benefits 

This course will provide staff, who are required to inspect and test electrical installations, with a nationally recognised qualification.

Are there any exams? 

Assessment consists of approximately five hours practical assessment and a two and a half hour written exam at a later date.

What does the course involve? 

This course covers:

  • the requirements of BS 7671:2008 for inspection, testing and certification
  • theoretical aspects of inspection and testing including calculations
  • practical demonstrations and "hands-on" sessions
  • preparation for a practical assessment and a written examination.
