What's it all about? 

This is an essential qualification that will prepare you to make informed decisions - whether about further learning opportunities or career choices. You will develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills which will help develop the confidence to communicate with others confidently, effectively, precisely and appropriately.

Progression 

Successful completion can lead to progression to advanced level English language, subject to grades. Whether or not students continue studying English, the certificate is a recognised and essential qualification.

Entry Requirements 

You will be required to undertake literacy assessment and achieve a minimum level 1 to gain entry to the course.

Duration 

One year

Are there any exams? 

40% of the available marks come from coursework, four written and three oral, and 60% come from two final exams.

You will study various uses of English language, and various texts and styles of speaking.
