What's it all about? 

You will need to demonstrate your skills and knowledge in preparing for and delivering excellent food and drink service to customers every day. You could be providing a counter or take-away service, table service, carvery or buffet or even a full fine dining experience.

This course will gain you a nationally recognised qualification that tells employers you have demonstrated the skills needed by the hospitality industry to secure repeat business and keep customers happy as they enjoy their meal or drink.

Progression 

Upon successful completion you may progress to the City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership at the College.

Entry Requirements 

In our experience in order to be successful on this level of programme you will need one of the following:

  • four GCSEs at grades D-G (including English and maths)
  • a BTEC foundation diploma in a related subject
  • an NVQ level 1 / technical certificate in a related subject
  • successful completion of the Gateway / Newstart programme
  • successful completion of the PLP / Prince's Trust programme
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

You will be assessed as you go about your daily duties within your workplace as you prepare areas and equipment, check your stock levels, and deliver food with excellent customer service skills. At the end of service you will demonstrate that all areas are cleared and clean, with equipment turned off. You may also be preparing and serving dispensed and instant drinks or preparing and serving wines.
