What's it all about? 

This course raises awareness of key food safety issues and provides an introduction to food hygiene. The course is suitable for new employees with minimal or no food safety knowledge.

There are no specific entry requirements.

Duration 

Three hours

Business Benefits 

Food business operators must ensure that employees are given instruction and training in food hygiene matters to ensure safety of the food provided. This training is particularly relevant for employees:

  • handling low-risk or wrapped food (category A)
  • front of house employees ie waiting staff or check out operators
  • back of house employees ie kitchen staff
  • domicillary staff providing food for people in a care environment

This course can be tailored to meet specific industry requirements.

Yes - multiple choice examination

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

The course covers the basics of food safety and hygiene, how to keep clean and hygienic, how to keep work areas clean, the role an individual plays in minimising risk of contamination and how to identify food safety issues.

When can I study? 

Various half days - 9.00am to 12.00 noon or 1.00pm to 4.00pm
