What's it all about? 

With your flair for organising events, meeting people and logistics management, you can use our course as a stepping stone to a more senior level or to further study. We will expand and improve your planning, managing and organising skills, encourage you to be innovative and creative, show you how to carefully gauge client requirements, get an in-depth understanding into the industry, and to cultivate good contacts. You will emerge poised and assured, and ready to put theory into practice.

Progression 

This qualification gives you the opportunity to progress to:

  • the Hospitality Management Foundation Degree at the College, with one year's further study
  • a career within the hospitality industry.

Entry Requirements 

We welcome applications from those who have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and maths, and one or more of the following:

  • 120 UCAS tariff points
  • a BTEC national award in a related subject
  • a 14-19 advanced diploma
  • an advanced Apprenticeship
  • an NVQ level 3 in a related subject
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

 

Duration 

Two years

Business Benefits 

This course will equip future hospitality managers with the knowledge and skills necessary for this industry. The course engages local hospitality employers in both the planning and delivery of the modules taught on the course.

Are there any exams? 

Assessment includes practical demonstrations, report writing and presentations. There are also opportunities for you to gain invaluable experience by visiting and spending time with local hospitality providers.

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

The HNC in Hospitality Management is a two year, part-time course. Each year of the course you will complete four 20 credit modules. These are:

Year 1

  • Restaurant Operations
  • Accommodation and Front Office
  • Marketing
  • International Tourism

Year 2

  • Purchasing, Costing and Finance
  • Managing People
  • Licensed Trade Management
  • Leadership and Management in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry

When can I study? 

Year 1 - Wednesdays 9.00am to 6.30pm, Year 2 - Thursdays 9.00am to 6.00pm
