What's it all about? 

Do you wonder what makes people want to work? Are you particularly clever at recognising patterns in information? Are you a good organiser? On our foundation degree we will help you focus and expand these aptitudes in your study of people and their work - and determine what it takes to meet the needs of those people at work.

Progression 

On successful completion you may be eligible to progress to:

  • the final year of the BA (Hons) Business Administration degree at Plymouth University
  • if your first language is not English you could apply for the BA (Hons) in Business Administration with Business English
  • further professional study to achieve membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development
  • a career in human resource management in the private or public sector.

Entry Requirements 

We welcome applications from those who have a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above including English and maths, and one or more of the following:

  • 120 UCAS tariff points
  • a BTEC national award in a related subject
  • a 14-19 advanced diploma
  • an advanced Apprenticeship
  • an NVQ level 3 in a related subject
  • equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.

Duration 

Two academic years

Assessment is via a range of methods including written assignments, case studies, presentations, role play and end of module tests.

There is an opportunity to study the following modules on the course:

Stage 1

  • developing HR practitioner skills
  • business economics
  • business finance
  • organisational behaviour
  • marketing
  • employment relations and the law

Stage 2

  • managing HR issues
  • managing knowledgwe and information
  • managing people
  • entreprise and innovation
  • management accounts
  • industrial relations and the law
  • resourcing and talent management.

When can I study? 

Studies will be six hours a week at various times
