ity College Plymouth offers high quality structured renewable energy courses, which can be completed on a weekly basis. Solar photovoltaic technology is becoming increasingly popular with more and more households installing PV systems and to meet the growing demand for installation training this Small Scale Solar Photovoltaic Systems course is being offered either as a stand-alone option for qualified and experienced electricians or as part of a retraining package. Our instructors are qualified, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and have extensive industrial experience, so students can take advantage of all the tips of the trade, personal experiences and advice and guidance that they can offer. 

Short courses are intensive, but the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable which creates a good learning environment. If you wish to develop your skills for your own projects or extend your practical abilities in areas related to your work, whilst potentially completing recognised trade qualifications, our instructors will be more than happy to discuss these with you and assure that you develop the skills that you need.

Entry Requirements 

You should hold a recognised level 3 electrical installation qualification and be certified to the current Edition of IEE regulations.

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

The City & Guilds 2399 Solar PV course meets the demand for qualified Solar PV installers which currently out strips availability. The course will give you the technical and hands on experience to carry out real life installations, with the environmental background and hands on training. It will also provide you with a qualification that can be used to gain MCS accreditation.

The nationally-recognised City & Guilds course, which is run in the College’s state-of the-art ABB Energy Centre, is intended for qualified electricians who want to broaden their skills to install and maintain environmental technology systems or gain the knowledge to give great advice to property owners. Students will be taught in industry standard facilities, installing a solar photovoltaic array, testing and commissioning.
