What's it all about? 

This NVQ is a structured programme of development for supervisors and junior managers within the distribution, warehousing and storage industry who wish to continue improving their skills and performance, ensuring that UK logistics remains world class.

Progression 

Upon successful completion, you may progress to the NVQ Level 4 in Management offered at the College.

Entry Requirements 

Candidates should:

  • have support from their line manager
  • have the opportunity to collect evidence in work
  • be able to build a portfolio
  • have the opportunity for workplace observations.

Duration 

One year

Roll On Roll Off? 

Yes

Are there any exams? 

There is no exam. However, you will need to collect a variety of evidence such as statements, observations and testimonies to build a portfolio. All of this will be under the guidance of an assessor. Once the criteria for each unit has been met, the unit will be signed off as competent.

It is a requirement of enrolment that you submit work, and contact or meet with your assessor at least once a month. 

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

The qualification is about the safe and efficient receipt, movement, storage, handling and dispatch of goods in a warehousing and logistics environment. Candidates should have a degree of autonomy and be working at a supervisory or team leading level of responsibility within logistics operations.

Unit Overview

To gain a full award, you must achieve a minimum total of 21 credits comprising three manadtory units. One unit is to be taken from each of the optional groups one to four (each of a minimum value of  credits).

Unit 2 Make an effective contribution to a business in the logistics sector

Unit 3 Optimise the use of logistics resources

Optional Units

Group 1:

Unit 4 Improve performance in logistics operations

Unit 5 Provide leadership for your team in logistics operations

Unit 6 Allocate and check work in your team in logistics operations

Group 2

Unit 7 Maintain the safety and security of hazardous goods and materials in logistics operations

Unit 8 Supervise the receipt, storage or dispatch of goods

Unit 9 Minimise the environmental impact of logistics operations

Group 3

Unit 10 Schedule logistics operations to meet customer requirements

Unit 11 International road transport operations

Unit 12 Arrange the transportation of good using multiple transport modes

Group 4

Unit 13 ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements in logistics operations

Unit 14 Contribute to the provision of customer service in logistics operations

Unit 15 Respond to problems in logistics operations

Unit 16 Apply technology in logistics operations
