What's it all about? 

Didn’t enjoy school? Want to try something very different? This course is designed to give you part-time access to similar qualifications available on the Personalised Learning Programme, but without the commitment of attending College full-time.

 

Progression 

The NEET Engagement Programme enables you to progress onto:

  • work-based learning, for example an Apprenticeship
  • employment or employment with training
  • further education courses
  • the Personalised Learning Programme or Prince’s Trust Team.

Entry Requirements 

  • You must be aged 16-27 (subject to funding eligibility).
  • You must NOT already be employed.
  • You must not already be engaged in any other training.

Duration 

12 weeks
Course Content

What does the course involve? 

  • Nationally recognised qualifications.
  • Hands-on practical work experience with local employers.
  • Work trials with a local employer leading to employment/Apprenticeships.
  • Tasters in training workshops - automotive, engineering, hairdressing, and many more sectors.
  • Access to youth action/voluntary working on local community projects around the city.
  • Confidence building/motivation/team building/problem solving.
  • Adventurous activities - caving, abseiling, canoeing.
  • Functional skills - English, maths and computer skills.
  • Employability skills such as interview techniques and CV design.
  • A personally tailored curriculum.
  • Information, advice and guidance on training and employment opportunities.

If you are aged 16-18, due to Government funding, tuition fees may not be applicable for your course (Please note: this does not apply to foundation degrees or access to higher education courses, and other courses not eligible for public funding).

Please note that fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2011 / 12 (August 2011 - July 2012). There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2012 / 13.
