What's it all about? 

This course is designed for those who work with children. It meets the requirements of OFSTED and The Early Years Foundation guidelines. This course is suitable for Early Years register and General Childcare register.

The course includes:

  • assessing priorities of care
  • CPR and all aspects of basic life support (BLS) for babies and children
  • managing unconsciousness
  • control of bleeding and the treatment of minor wounds
  • care and use of first aid equipment
  • recognition and treatment of burns and scalds
  • recognition and treatment of fractures and soft tissue injuries
  • recognise and treat common injuries and illnesses until the arrival of medical aid
  • overview of relevant legislation, reporting and recording.

Please Note - some courses are run on consecutive days. However we are aware that some employers find it difficult to release employees for two days in one week, so for your convenience certain courses are run over a two week period. Please contact us for exact course dates and to discuss your requirements.

Progression 

Those who complete the course will be awarded a certificate which is valid for three years. This is a useful qualification for those wishing to work with children or for parents of young children.

Are there any exams? 

During the course there is continual assessment by the instructor with a short written assessment at the end of the two days.

What does the course involve? 

The course covers:
