What's it all about? 

Plastering is an art. Ask anyone who has tried to do it for themselves and failed. It takes skill and lots and lots of practice to create a smooth, even finish that will protect and enhance walls. If you enjoy creating high quality work and want to work as a plasterer, but aren't yet employed, then this course is for you. It will teach you about basic plastering techniques, the various materials used and allow you to practice your skills in a simulated working environment.

Progression 

Successful completion of this course will enhance your employment opportunities and enable you to progress to a level 2 construction course at the College.

Entry Requirements 

There are no specific entry requirements, however you must show a willingness to engage and a genuine interest in the course that will enable you to progress into employment or further education.

Duration 

One year

Are there any exams? 

You will be assessed under simulated working conditions in the construction workshops, classrooms and College construction site. There will also be an externally set exam at the end of the course.

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

The main subjects covered are:

  • handling and storing resources
  • fixing sheet materials (plasterboard)
  • internal plastering
  • solid work plastering.
