What's it all about? 

Psychology is the science of the mind and behaviour: it is an applied discipline involving the scientific study of all aspects of human thought and behaviour. The aim of this course is to provide learners with an interest in and enjoyment of the study of Psychology. It will enable learners to acquire knowledge and understanding of psychological concepts and principles and the ability to apply concepts to explain unfamiliar phenomena and information. In addition, the course also offers learners exciting opportunities to explore a range of human behaviours including personality, gender, non-verbal communication and obedience as well as atypical behaviours and psychological disorders.

Progression 

You can progress onto other level 3 courses, such as A levels, BTECS and Access courses offered at the College.

Entry Requirements 

This is an intensive oneyear course. You will be considered on an individual basis. In all cases, numeracy and literacy assessments will be undertaken as part of the application process.

Duration 

One year

Are there any exams? 

Two exams at the end of the course, each are worth 50% of the final grade.

Unit 1: making sense of other people (memory, NVC, personality, stereotyping and research methods).

Unit 2: Understanding other people (learning, social influence, sex and gender, aggression and research methods).
