What's it all about? 

The course is for young people with moderate/severe learning difficulties/disabilities who need to learn within a supported environment, and who want to develop their skills in independent living and preparation for adult life. The course is an individual learning plan led in conjunction with foundation learning. Support facilitates full inclusion, where possible.

Progression 

On successful completion you may progress to other skills development courses or vocational training appropriate to individual needs.

Entry Requirements 

There are no specific entry requirements for this course, but an interview will assess your suitability for the course.

Duration 

One year

Are there any exams? 

You will have the opportunity to study the following qualifications:

  • Skills for Working Life
  • ASDAN Personal Progress Award
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award
  • Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge.
Course Content

What does the course involve? 

You will have the opportunity to:

  • develop functional skills
  • develop a range of independent living skills,social skills and self confidence
  • try a range of vocational options
  • achieve relevant qualifications

The course includes:

  • Functional Skills
  • work Skills/work placement - where appropriate
  • Vocational tasters
  • personal development/residential
  • independent living skills
  • keeping fit and healthy
  • using community facilities.
