What's it all about? 

Sociology is the study of society and this course looks at a wide range of social topics. It gives an thorough understanding of how society tackles its needs, for example to provide education and of different ways in which this could be done, and enables us to question how society is organised.

Progression 

You can progress to level 3 courses offered at the College, for example A levels.

Entry Requirements 

This is an intensive one year course. You will be considered on an individual basis. In all cases numeracy and literacy assessments will be undertaken as part of the application process.

Duration 

One year

Are there any exams? 

You will be assessed through a mixture of in-class activities, practical work, portfolio, coursework and exams.

There are two examinations - for unit 1 the exam equals 50% of your grade and takes place in January, and for unit 2, which also equals 50% and takes place in June.
