Stone therapy is an ancient holistic treatment which uses both hot volcanic and cold marine stones to promote deep relaxation, re-balance energy and stimulate the body's systems. It allows the therapist to work more intensely and with more efficiency than other massages without placing strain on their hands.
By developing these skills it will assist you in gaining employment and being able to offer a more varied body therapy treatment.
You will need to have some background knowledge or experience within the beauty or massage industry. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is also a requirement.
This course will enable you to develop massage skills and offer a more advanced and up to date, modern body therapy treatment.
There will be a combination of practical and written assessments.
This ten week course will equip you with the practical skills to become a competent stone therapist. It comprises theory, practical and assessment sessions and requires you to undertake a commitment to complete some theory home study.
Theory subjects include: history, principles and cultural uses of stone therapy, contra-indications and contra-actions to performing a treatment, consultation techniques, effects and benefits to receiving a stone therapy, health and safety aspects, and care of stones and equipment.
Practical sessions involve progression of working on your peers and clients to complete a full stone therapy treatment.
Although we are not yet able to confirm dates or fees, applications for the next course are now welcome. For further information please contact the Customer Services team on 01752 305300 or e-mail info@cityplym.ac.uk.
