What's it all about? 

Any organisation needs good leaders who can be respected by the staff for their professional and people skills. If you are a leader already, this work-based qualification will help you to expand on your best skills and give you techniques and strategies to overcome your weaknesses in other areas, so that you can go on to create successful teams. We will show you how you can inspire and motivate your team members to be the best they can.

Progression 

This qualification can enhance your career prospects. Other courses of interest may include customer service or business administration NVQs.

Entry Requirements 

Candidates will need to:

  • be employed in a role where you have responsibility for leading a team
  • have the support of their line manager
  • have the opportunity to collect evidence in work
  • be able to build a portfolio
  • have the opportunity for workplace observations.

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

This NVQ is suitable for those who are entering management, or who have the ability and the opportunity to demonstrate recoginsable management and leadership skills, for example, providing leadership for your team, encouraging innovation, allocating and checking work.

You will find it appropriate if you are:

  • leading or supervising a team of people
  • wishing to demonstrate competence in leadership skills.

Unit Overview

To achieve the full award, candidates must achieve 17 credits in total, including three mandatory units of ten credits.

Mandatory Units

A1 Manage personal development

D1 Develop working relationships with colleagues

E11 Communicate information and knowledge

Optional Units

Group Two Optional Units (a minimum of one unit must be achieved)

D5 Plan, allocate and monitor work of a team

B5 Set objectives and provide support for team members

Group Three Optional Units (a minimum of one unit must be achieved)

B11 Manage or support equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion in own area or responsibility

C1 Support team members to identify, develop and implement new ideas

D10 Manage conflict in a team

D11 Lead and manage meetings

D12 Participate in meetings

E10 Make effective decisions

E12 Manage knowledge in own area of responsibility

E15 Procure supplies

F17 Manage customer service in own area of responsibility
