What's it all about? 

The trainers train the staff ... but who trains the trainers?

This workshop is the perfect starting point for anyone responsible for the training and development of staff in the workplace, and is perfect for those with little or no formal background in the delivery of training.

Progression 

You may like to consider progressing on to the City & Guilds 7303 Preparing for Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) which is delivered at the College. Applicants may wish to and be eligble to apply directly to the PTLLS course.

 

Entry Requirements 

Successful candidates will need to have a minimum of a level 1 qualification in literacy. There are no other specific entry requirements for this course, however it has been developed to assist those who are currently within employment who have the opportunity to train others.

Two days

Business Benefits 

This two day introductory course offers a good starting point for training trainers which also provides a recognised national qualification. The course promotes the skills and knowledge for trainers which ultimately reflects across the workforce as the quality of the training provision. The course can also promote health and safety and equality and diversity awareness across the organisation.

Are there any exams? 

The assessment includes a short micro teaching session to demonstrate the practical training and assessment of learning skills along with a short multiple choice quiz.

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

The primary objective of this workshop is to develop the trainer's knowledge of, and self-confidence in information delivery techniques.

The topics that are delivered over the two day course include:

  • basic learning theories
  • the training cycle
  • how do people learn?
  • becoming an effective trainer
  • structure of a training session
  • teaching styles
  • methods of delivery
  • being inclusive.

When can I study? 

Specific days in November, March and June between 9.00am and 4.30pm
