What's it all about? 

Do you aim to be a skilled craftsperson, one who provides complex skills on site or are called upon to produce interesting and decorative effects in the laying of construction bricks and blocks? Then this Apprenticeship will give you a thorough grounding in the health and safety aspects, the organisation and craft that you aim to tackle. Complete this nationally recognised industry qualification and you'll be ready for your next challenge.

Progression 

You can progress on to an Advanced Apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements 

Entry is by an initial assessment at the Work-based Learning Department. And an interview with the course tutor.

Duration 

Two years

Are there any exams? 

Assessment is continuous, both on and off the job.

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

Apprenticeships are for learners employed as an Apprentice by a company within Devon and Cornwall. Funding is guaranteed by the Government for the training, with priority being given to learners starting aged 16 to 18 years.

We can assist in matching learners to employers. The course content will include:

NVQ Level 2 in Trowel Occupations

Functional skills: application of number Level 1 and communication Level 1

Technical certificate: Diploma Level 2.

Additional requirements: health and safety test, Employment Responsibilities and Rights (ERR) programme of study and abrasive wheels training course.
