What's it all about? 

Interested in developing web-based applications for use on the internet? Unsure where to start? Our enthusiastic and experienced tutors cover a range of software that will help you learn and develop the required skills to set up your own internet or intranet web site; as well as managing the hardware that runs it.

This course is designed to introduce new developers to the world of web application programming. With the skills and abilities learnt from this course you should be able to produce a simple but effective online application.

Are there any exams? 

Assessment will be mainly through practical projects which can be used to build your own portfolio of work with some multi-choice tests.

Course Content

What does the course involve? 

This course involves two main areas of website design and web application development.

The web section will cover the basics of producing web pages including design and coding, using CSS and dynamic content. Applications covered will include Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks and a range of related software.

The web application development will include website programming using ASP, VBScript, PHP, and Javascript, together with web-based databases using MySQL to produce dynamic content driven web applications. There will be a technical element on how to set up your own internet or intranet including the configeration of local web servers.
