What's it all about?

This course is for people who have an interest in working with and supporting young people.
It will provide the perfect starting point to gain an understanding of the theory and approaches related to youth in practice and gives successful applicants the opportunity to practise the approaches learnt within a placement setting and the opportunity to reflect on their practice and progress. 

 It is a perfect course for those who are already volunteering with young people and would like to learn more and gain a qualification at the same time. It will also support the applicant to increase in confidence, self-awareness as well as planning group work and collaborative working.

Course information

This course involves attending the College one day a week alongside completing a 40 hour work placement in a setting which involves working with young people. 

You will need to be aged 18+ and have a passion for working with young people. You will be required to undertake a 40 hour placement as part of the course. Therefore, this must be arranged and started before the course start date. You will be unable to start the course if this is not organised.  If you would like support or further guidance regarding placements, please get in touch.

Assessment will be undertaken through the completion of a portfolio, observations of practice and discussions, one-to-one meetings and in a group.
