A record number of Bandvulc employees have been celebrating the successful completion of their National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), in team leading.

The delivery and training provided by the College has motivated and encouraged the company to further develop the skills of their employees.

Bandvulc employee, Stacie Pirret said: "The training really was of a high standard. I found it incredibly useful as the trainer was always on hand to offer regular support and guidance. Though, it wasn't just about work we also had a lot of fun doing it."

Mechanical and Engineering Services(MES) Employer Dinner

City College Plymouth works closely with employers and this is reflected in the College being one of the few colleges in the South West to be awarded the Training Quality Standard (Part B) in construction, engineering and hospitality and tourism.

In order to continue building mutually beneficial working relationships with employers, the College hosted an employer dinner in its Cité Restaurant, last night. The event was held to gauge interest in forming a sector specific employer forum group for the mechanical and engineering services sectors.

Employers from local and national businesses were welcomed by Adrian Heath, Head of Construction at the College. The event was supported by Summitskills and Regen Southwest, with representatives from both organisations giving informative and entertaining presentations.

Dinner was prepared and served by the College's hospitality students. Guests dined on freshly caught plaice served in a summer broth followed by locally sourced chicken and new season asparagus. Those with a sweet tooth were well catered for too with a stunning trio of freshly made desserts!

It is hoped that from this initial meeting that a Employer Forum Group for the Plymouth travel-to-work area will be formed, providing employers within the MES sector with a local voice.

Interested in joining the Employer Forum Group? Please telephone Karen O'Riley on 01752 305830 or e-mail koriley@cityplym.ac.uk for further details.
