Demo Kitchen Launched by Celebrity Chef's

Celebrity chefs Chris and James Tanner have formally opened a new demonstration kitchen at the College. At an event which also celebrated Plymouth Sustainable Enterprise Week, guests were treated to a live cookery demo by the brothers, where they showcased their talents in the kitchen.

Chris and James prepared three dishes for the specially invited audience, including a brand new one of locally caught sea bass. The new demo kitchen, which provides seating for up to 50, provides a great teaching aid for both students and industry professionals. A live camera feed provides a link to wall mounted screens which gives a great overview and focus on the action. It is planned to hold a series of themed evenings over the coming months where a variety of cuisines will be demonstrated.

Following the demo, Chris and James joined 50 guests in the College's training restaurant where they enjoyed a stunning four-course dinner, prepared and served by College catering and hospitality students. Guests enjoyed Brixham crab raviloi followed by Creedy Carver duck and a pear tartin with locally sourced ice cream. A range of west country cheeses was served whilst guests heard from Deputy Principal, Phil Davies.

Chris and James took the opportunity to highlight the importance of using locally sourced produce, which is in season. Their focus on using sustainable farming and fishing methods was particularly appropriate as the launch event took place during Plymouth Sustainable Enterprise Week.
