Homestay

The College can place you with one of our carefully selected and inspected host families if you would like to live with a British family.  This offers an excellent opportunity for you to experience British family life and to practise your English!
You will normally have a single room, and share use of the bathroom with the family.  Breakfast and evening meal will be provided by the family, and all meals at weekends.  All heating and lighting costs are also usually included in your rent.

Your contract for this type of accommodation will be directly with the landlord and you will pay your rent to them. The cost in 2011 is £100 - £108 per week. 

Please note: students under the age of 18 will be placed with a family unless the student’s parents provide written consent for the student to live in another type of accommodation.

Hi there, may I introduce myself as a host mother here in Plymouth. My name is Pippa and I live 3 minutes walk away from City College Plymouth in a 5 bed-roomed Victorian house with my son called Jamie. It is a big house with a garden, conservatory and 2 bathrooms. I live near a village where there is a supermarket and post office and it’s a 15 minute walk to the main city centre. I have been a host family for 25 years and have met all nationalities. I lived myself in Singapore for 6 years and have visited many countries all over the world. We are a very relaxed family and students can talk to me if they have any problems. I am a mother to all!!!

When a student comes to us it takes a while to adjust to the English way of life, whether they come for 1 week or 1 year. I offer here a safe family environment and like to take the students out on cultural trips if they are interested. Our hobbies are cycling, swimming, walking, visiting places of interest, gardening, reading, photography and cooking. Maybe you would like to stay with us.
