James joined the Prince’s Trust course after a period in rehab to tackle his drug and alcohol addiction which had led him to a life of crime and rejection by his loved ones. At interview, James was asked what his hobbies were, he answered that he did not know as all he had known for over a decade was drugs. Luckily, the Prince’s Trust turned all this around for him, as the programme gave him the opportunity to realise he was worth so much more. He worked hard in all aspects of the course, despite financial difficulties and health problems caused by his years of narcotics and alcohol abuse.
He is now undertaking an Access to Higher Education course in Humanities at the College and is doing really well. He has been offered a place at Plymouth University, which he hopes to take up next year, and has volunteered to help other Prince’s Trust teams, acting as a role model and an example of what you can achieve when someone believes in you. Now the only high James is on is life!
