Providing education and training to Plymouth, Devon, Cornwall and the wider community
City College Plymouth, has announced it has been awarded the Training Quality Standard (Part B) Certificate with Excellence in Engineering. Recently, the College was awarded Part B in Construction and Hospitality and Tourism, making it the only college in the South West to be recognised in all three areas.
The College has been recognised and accredited by the Learning and Skills Council, for its continued demonstration of high quality training and development solutions for employers, meeting their needs and positively impacting upon their business outcomes. It is awarded in two parts and is only awarded to those organisations that can demonstrate robust quality processes and commitment to continued improvement.
City College Plymouth was one of the first further education colleges in the country to receive the full accreditation for three years in June 2008.
Viv Gillespie, Principal at City College Plymouth, commented: "The College is working hard to support local and regional businesses in having access to world class, knowledgeable and skilful workforce. I am delighted that our whole-hearted commitment to quality training has also been recognised in Engineering.
"Research has shown that as the economic downturn bites, organisations that invest in their staff are best placed to save money, improve staff motivation and increase employee retention. We can help employers mentor and enrich their staff, boosting their productivity and competitiveness."
