Local school competition is out of this world

City College Plymouth is to host a Big Bang School Competition on Thursday 12 March, as part of National Science and Engineering Week.

National Science and Engineering Week is one of the world's largest celebrations of science and engineering. This year's theme is 'Change' which also fits with Darwin200 and the International Year of Astronomy 2009.

With this in mind, City College Plymouth has designed an intergalactic day that will see three school teams taking part in exciting and fascinating workshops including; slime making, robotic programming, electric circuits and finger dusting. The teams will then go head to head in the inter-school quiz, where the winning team will be crowned Big Bang School Champion.

Hannah Griffith, marketing assistant at City College Plymouth commented: "We're pleased to be part of National Science and Engineering Week. We aim to show young people how science and engineering benefits our everyday lives and is crucial to meeting some of the major challenges of our times."
