Providing education and training to Plymouth, Devon, Cornwall and the wider community
In light of the economic downturn City College Plymouth has developed a range of free short courses to help those affected by the recession.
The 'recession proofing' courses offer staple processes for improving employability prospects and for employers looking to develop the expertise of their staff.
Courses on returning to work and personal development have been designed to improve the employability of those looking to get back into the workplace and those anxious about the current situation.
Free packages are also available to employers looking to develop the skills of their staff. Research has shown that employers who invest in training are less likely to fail, and first-class workplace skills will be the key to prospering when the economy recovers.
Viv Gillespie, Principal at City College Plymouth commented: "This is the very time when investment in training should be increased. In a recession, when downsizing may be necessary, it is even more important that the employees' who remain in the workforce have the necessary skills to fill the gaps by those who gone.
"It is also vital that those seeking employment have all the necessary skills that employers' are looking for - losing your job can knock your confidence, so it's important that the packages' build confidence and motivation as well as offering practical advice."
