Providing education and training to Plymouth, Devon, Cornwall and the wider community
City College Plymouth is celebrating its success at the Training Provider Network (TPN) Awards, with 11 apprentices receiving certificates and apprentice, Rachel Hockaday achieving second place in the overall Apprentice of the Year award.
Rachel's success comes as a result of achieving a National Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, completing an Apprenticeship in Industrial Applications ahead of schedule and now progressing onto an Advanced Apprenticeship in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.
Sue Reed, Programme Area Manager at City College Plymouth commented: "I'm extremely proud of our 11 apprentices who received certificates at the TPN awards ceremony and especially pleased with Rachel achieving second place in the Apprentice of the Year award.
"Rachel is a highly motivated and hard working young woman who is excelling within what still remains a largely male dominated work environment."
Through the support and encouragement given by her employer, Kawasaki Precision Machinery (UK) Limited, Rachel has been able to work towards an HNC Mechanical Design and Manufacture. Rachel and Kawasaki are working together to encourage under represented groups to discover an interest in engineering.
