Advice is on offer at Adult Learners

As part of Adult Learners' Week, City College Plymouth is hosting an event in Plymouth's City Centre to encourage adults to pursue new careers and opportunities through education.

The marquee event, held on New George Street on Saturday 9 May between 10.00am and 3.30pm, will offer adults 'taster' activities in English and maths - lap-tops will be provided with on-screen tests.

Both skills for life and access to higher education course staff will be available to offer advice on developing the skills needed in everyday life, such as reading, writing and maths. Also, advice will be available on courses specifically designed for mature students to develop the necessary confidence and knowledge for entry onto a degree or diploma course.

Information will also be available on the College's free short courses, designed to help those affected by the recession.

Rachel Seddon, head of skills for life at City College Plymouth commented: "We're confident this event will offer adults a great opportunity to develop their skills and confidence to take the next steps to a brighter future."

Adult Learners' Week is the UK's largest and longest running festival of learning. It aims to encourage more adults to take part in learning activities and events across England, as well as celebrating the achievements of inspirational learners.
