City College Plymouth Needs Administration Apprentices to Meet Employer Demand

Contrary to the continued rise in unemployment, City College Plymouth has announced it will shortly not be able to meet the demand of administration apprentices for local employers.

The success of current apprentices has left demand outstripping supply, and as a result the College has several employers who are looking for administration apprentices, but very few applicants.

An Administration Apprenticeship includes a NVQ level 2, with a Technical Certificate in Business and Administration and key skills in literacy and numeracy. The course runs for approximately 15 months.

Julie Mclean, Head of Work-based Learning at the College, commented: "The Apprenticeship scheme allows people the opportunity to gain skills and experience in supporting the smooth running of an office. Administration is an integral cog within all companies, and as a first point of contact it has an influence over sales and production outcomes.

"Apprenticeships give people high-quality, sought-after qualifications and a great future."

Apprenticeships are crucial for providing employers with the skills they need to succeed, spanning the breadth of the economy - from accounting and engineering, to construction, creative industries and sport. Apprenticeships also provide a high-quality alternative route to future career success for ambitious individuals.

In the current economic circumstances, it is more important than ever to ensure that employees have the skills they need to help deliver success which is why businesses should continue to train. Training will help them through the current storm whilst also readying them for when the storm passes.
