Plymouth Students Find Out Exactly What You Can Do With String and Brown Paper!

Access to higher education diploma Aart and design students at City College Plymouth are holding an exciting exhibition of fashion work, in the Roland Levinsky Building, at Plymouth University from Wednesday 13 May until Friday 15 May.

The students' were asked to create wearable clothing inspired by designers such as, Hussein Chalayan, Vivien Westwood and John Galliano. The challenge was to use a limited selection of unconventional materials, including brown paper and corrugated cardboard.

This is the final project for the one-year access students, who have developed skills in a wide variety of art forms including, drawing, painting, sculpture, fashion and art history.

The course is popular with mostly mature students who are looking for a change or a new start within the creative industries.

Sue Newell, an art and design student at City College Plymouth commented: "The course has been hugely encouraging, inspirational but also challenging, pushing skills and achievement all the time.

"I would encourage anyone who wants to take art and design further to attend this course first, as it's a great bridge between making a big change in your life and committing to full time higher education."
