Providing education and training to Plymouth, Devon, Cornwall and the wider community
City College Plymouth's first diploma students in performing arts are set to perform in 'Concrete Jungle' on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 May.
'Concrete Jungle', written and directed by College lecturer I-tasha Honeyglan- Gaye is an adaptation of what is happening in society today - underage drinking, drug taking and cyber bullying. It looks at all the issues teenagers and parents have to contend with. It doesn't give the answers, but it questions the solutions.
Many of the students performing have been directly affected by the issues covered in the play.
I-tasha Honeyghan-Gaye, lecturer at City College Plymouth and writer and director of Concrete Jungle commented: "Once again the students have been a fantastic group to work with. Some of the issues dealt with have been very strong, however the group has displayed nothing but maturity and sensitivity, with passion and hard work.
"It's been a great pleasure working with them."
The first diploma course runs for one year and allows students to cover a broad range of performance skills, including the performing arts business, acting, production process, performing scripted plays, understanding drama and musical theatre.
