Providing education and training to Plymouth, Devon, Cornwall and the wider community
As part of Volunteers' Week 2009 - City College Plymouth is encouraging people to reap the benefits by offering flexible free courses, designed to prepare individuals who are interested in pursuing voluntary work.
The courses on offer, preparation for voluntary work and working as a volunteer, offer a clear understanding of the voluntary sector and the opportunities available, as well as offering support through the application process.
On successful completion of a volunteer course and placement within a voluntary organisation, fully funded level 2 training is available through Train to Gain, which can lead into a NVQ.
Volunteers already working within organisations can also access this fully funded training.
Sharron Robbie at City College Plymouth commented: "The contributions that volunteers make should be recognised and rewarded and this is an excellent way of doing this."
Additionally, the College is offering 18 voluntary places through 'vtalent' - a one year programme aimed at anyone aged between 16-25, who would like to gain experience of working with young people. An NVQ level 2 will be awarded on successful completion.
