Mum and Daughter Receive Outstanding A Level Results

Mother and Daughter, Alison and Emma Bender, from Plymouth, are celebrating after achieving excellent AS and A level results. They collected their results this morning at City College Plymouth and were ecstatic with their grades.

Emma, aged 18, opened her envelope to reveal impressive A level grades including an A in business studies, and grade Bs in art, psychology, and sociology. Her mum, Alison Bender, who has been studying a part-time AS level in law, achieved a grade A.

Emma said: "I'm over the moon. I was hoping for good results, but these are just brilliant."

Emma described her time at the College as challenging, but fantastic. "I really enjoyed my time at the College, and feel the support that was given by the enthusiastic tutors helped me to achieve such good grades. I'm starting a degree in psychology and counselling at Middlesex University in September.

"I was attracted to study at the College because of the sense of freedom and adult atmosphere compared to school. It is one of the best decisions I have ever made!"

Joining Emma's success is Caitlyn Fairnie, aged 19 from Saltash, who opened her envelope to reveal impressive A level grades; an A in both film studies, and media studies.

Caitlyn said: "I'm so happy. The lecturers were so supportive during my time at the College, and made us all believe that we could achieve good grades, and now I have!"

Caitlyn described her time at the College as challenging, but fantastic. "The courses were the best I have ever studied. We went to New York as part of my media course and visited the film studios. Our film studies lecturer was awesome - he has a background in the film industry so he knows what he's talking about."
