Providing education and training to Plymouth, Devon, Cornwall and the wider community
Three of City College Plymouth’s students have been selected for the short list in this year’s prestigious Institute of Refrigeration, RAC (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) National Student of the Year Award.
Ben Webster 25, Jack Barter 18 and James McClennon 23, were chosen as three of the ten finalists - an incredible achievement, considering the Institute of Refrigeration said: “The judges ‘were blown away by the number of high quality entries this year.”
All three students who are undertaking a level 3 qualification in refrigeration were nominated by their lecturer Andy Channon for their outstanding NVQ portfolio and the dedication they have shown towards the industry.
Both Jack and Ben have Apprenticeships at Cornwall Cooling and James has an Apprenticeship at Macwhirters Western in Torquay.
Andy Channon Lecturer at City College Plymouth said: “It’s an incredible achievement to have one student shortlisted so to have three students shortlisted out of ten is unheard of.”
He continued: “We really are thrilled for all three students as they thoroughly deserve it.”
