The Aimhigher Roadshow hits Plymouth

Students’ at City College Plymouth enjoyed a visit from the National Aimhigher Roadshow  -  A Department  for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) initiative, designed to promote the benefits  and dispel the myths about higher education.

The roadshow idea is to take young people out of the classroom environment and inspire them with an informative, fast-paced presentation given by a recent graduate who has first-hand university experience.

Hosted by a university graduate, the roadshow gives first-hand knowledge of the application procedure and life at university and graduates will be available throughout the day to answer students’ questions.

Eddie Beech, a Careers Co-ordinator at City College Plymouth, said it gave young people a valuable insight into university life.

He said: “The aim of the roadshow is to raise aspirations and provide young people with information about Higher Education.

“Many young people are unaware of all the options available and the roadshow takes students outside of the classroom environment and focuses on the routes into Higher Education and the flexibility university can offer.

“The roadshow allows graduates to speak to students on their level and reiterates the fact university can be an option for them all regardless of their background. It is a great resource that can positively influence young people’s futures.”
