Media students help local pupils design newspaper

Students at City College Plymouth have been helping pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School to produce an in-house newspaper.

The second year media and design students have spent three days a week at the school for a month, teaching the pupils design skills, photography and some basic journalism.

Tori Skinner, student at City College Plymouth said: “I’ve really enjoyed spending time at St Joseph’s, and helping the pupils on a really exciting project. It’s been a really useful exercise teaching some of the skills that we’ve developed over the last year at College.”

Rob Chadwick, Media Lecturer at City College Plymouth said: “This is an excellent opportunity for our students to pass on their skills, and something we would like to do with even more schools. I’m sure it will be a great success and I look forward to seeing the results.”

The students’ time at St Joseph’s as been part of a work experience unit for their two-year media and design course.
