Time for friends to stretch their wings

Children at City College Plymouth’s nursery have said goodbye to their friends – painted lady butterflies.

Kids at Curious Kittens nursery have been involved in a ‘life cycles’ project, where they’ve been studying caterpillars and watching them form into cocoons – and then into beautiful painted ladies.

Trisha Barry, of Curious Kittens said: “It’s been a great project for all of the children – from the three-month old babies, who’ve enjoyed watching them fly, to the eldest kids’ club children, who’ve helped care for them.

“It’s been an absolute joy to see the children’s delight when the last butterfly slowly emerged from its cocoon with wet shaky wings and then took its first steps around the habitat.”

Curious Kittens, which has been awarded ‘outstanding’ in its OFSTED report, is holding two open mornings on Tuesday 22 June (Kings Road) and Wednesday 23 June (Goschen Centre) from 9.00am-12.00pm.
