College Students Fundraise for Local School

Prince’s Trust students at City College Plymouth have been raising much needed funds for a local special needs school - Woodlands.

The students based at the College’s Work-based Learning department, donned fancy dress costumes to undergo six hours of non-stop cycling and rowing in Drake Circus.

Woodlands School provides specialist education for 70 children with physical and sensory difficulties. The money raised on the day will go towards purchasing much needed equipment for the school’s common room.

Danielle Jackson, Prince’s Trust Team Leader at the College said: “I’m incredibly proud of all the students - they peddled and rowed non-stop for six hours in high temperatures to raise as much money as possible for the school.

“There’s been a great deal of team spirit around this fundraiser - with everyone encouraging and helping each other to ensure that they complete this task.”

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme is aimed at young people aged 16 to 25, who are unemployed, unexcited and unsure of the future. The 12-week course encourages the development of practical skills, self-belief and help with getting a job.
