College Celebrates Vocational Training

Students Performing at VQ Day 2010City College Plymouth opened its doors to the public to celebrate Vocational Training (VQ) Day on Wednesday 23 June from 11.00am to 1.00pm.

Visitors were invited to tour the facilities and take part in various activities, including fitness and team building activities, diagnostic testing, catering and sound technology, whilst finding out about all the vocational qualifications available at the College.

Current students took to the College’s main stage to exhibit their work and there were performances by music, dance and performing arts students.

Kate Wells, Event Officer at the College said: “Vocational qualifications are important because they are practical. The knowledge and skills they give people can be used immediately at work. That’s why employers value them as much as academic qualifications.

“VQ Day is a welcome opportunity to celebrate the hard work that millions of people put into getting them every year.”

VQ Day was launched in 2008 to raise the stature of practical and vocational learning and celebrate vocational qualifications.
