As part of the City College Plymouth’s Strength and Conditioning Foundation Degree course, students and lecturers are working alongside Plymouth Albion Rugby Football Club’s Strength Conditioning Coach, James Owen.
This work experience is part of a key partnership between Plymouth Albion and the College, which enables students to learn from an experienced and knowledgeable professional, whilst developing the necessary skills to work with elite athletes.
Charlie Legg, Lecturer at the College, said “We want to continue and develop our relationship with Plymouth Albion so our students gain the best experience and opportunities possible. I hope this will become a distinctive feature of our programme.”
James Owen said: “Plymouth Albion benefits hugely from the expertise and facilities offered through our partnership with City College Plymouth. The internships we offer students in strength and conditioning represents real-life experience as part of an “elite sport support team.”

The Strength Conditioning and Sports Coaching Foundation Degree is designed to build knowledge of the latest techniques and training, programme design, laboratory-based physiological testing, sports nutritional strategies and injury management techniques.
