Time for Friends to Stretch Their Wings

Children at City College Plymouth’s two nurseries have said goodbye to their new friends - painted lady butterflies.

The children at Curious Kittens nurseries have been studying insects and life cycles, including watching and helping caterpillars to grow, form into cocoons and emerge as beautiful painted lady butterflies.

Julie Griffiths, Nursery Manager, said: “All of the children have found the process magical, from the babies, who’ve enjoyed watching them, to the pre-school children who’ve helped care for them.

“It’s been delightful to see the children’s involvement when the butterflies emerged from their cocoons and they have loved being able to hold the butterflies carefully before releasing them in the garden to fly away. The children have been totally captivated by the whole process.”

Curious Kittens, which has been awarded ‘outstanding’ in all areas in its latest Ofsted reports, offers childcare for children six months to school entry age, and a popular holiday club for children from five to 11 years,  in a stimulating and caring environment.
