National Marine Aquarium joins City College Plymouth’s Employer Endorsement Scheme

The National Marine Aquarium is now a member of City College Plymouth’s Employer Endorser Scheme, which looks to enhance working relationships with employers.

The College currently has over 40, local, regional, national and international employers signed up to the scheme, from a cross section of industries. The Scheme, which is free to join, supports the employability agenda, by providing students with access to work placements, work-based projects and industry visits and talks, all of which enhance and enrich academic study, leading to students who are work-ready.

Dr David Gibson, Managing Director at the National Marine Aquarium, said: “We are proud to become a member of the College’s Employer Endorsement Scheme, and look forward to working closely with the College in a number of different areas.

“The National Marine Aquarium is dedicated to engaging with the community and we are looking forward to having a positive impact on College students through visits, talks and volunteering opportunities.”

Sharron Robbie, Head of Corporate Relations, said: “We are delighted to welcome the National Marine Aquarium as an Employer Endorser. As a major part of the community the Aquarium is an ideal organisation to work with. They will be supporting us in providing students with opportunities to enhance and enrich their academic study.

“This newly created partnership will see aquarium staff coming into the College to talk to students on a variety of topics, including tourism, customer service and marketing. Volunteering opportunities and student visits will also be organised through the College’s employability centre, theworkspace. This will hugely benefit College students who will be able to learn about aspects of the tourism industry and environmental issues.”
