College Students Celebrate Gaining Full-time Employment

Two beauty students from City College Plymouth are celebrating after securing employment with a new high-end nail bar in the city.

The directors of LUXE are opening their first London style Nail Bar in Plymouth’s Independent Quarter on Wednesday 1 August, and gave College students a fantastic opportunity to become part of their new team.

The College worked closely with LUXE and assisted students by putting on workshops in CV writing and interview techniques and helped conduct interviews at the College’s employability centre, theworkspace.

Natasha Woodward and Heather Caunt, who studied beauty therapy and nail services at the College, both attended the recruitment day and were successful in gaining full-time employment.

Heather said: “I’ve had an amazing experience at the College and gaining full-time employment is the icing on the cake. The teachers have a real passion and knowledge of their trade which has only ever inspired me to do my best and to produce the best work I can.

“I know what I want to do with my life and the College has given me the skills to have a career in an ever growing industry!”

Luxe Director and ex-College student, Cat Beech said: “We looked to City College Plymouth to support us in our expansion programme, as we were looking for fresh talent, with the latest skills and knowledge and who are passionate about the exciting new trends in the industry. 

“We were really impressed with the standard of the students who went through the recruitment process. The College really ensures that its students are work ready and possess the skills that employers are looking for.”
