A music student from City College Plymouth has been given the once in a life time opportunity to perform in Hyde Park alongside the likes of Snow Patrol and Blur.
The most promising bands from the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Founder College network have been selected to perform at the Bandstand, Hyde Park in front of some of the million+ people expected to attend BT London Live. Justyna Kaminski, 21, from Plymouth will be performing on Friday 10 August.
BT London Live is a partnership between the Mayor of London, the Royal Parks and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. The event is a key part of the citywide programme of events being organised by the Mayor of London to celebrate the London 2012 Games.
Student artists were invited in May to submit a demo and profile of their work before they were selected by the programming team from Live Connection, to enable emerging talent to gain real experience of working alongside professionals in the music industry, marketing their work, and working with technicians and producers. They will share the stage with other artists from Live Connection who strive to bring exposure to the hottest talent to emerge from the UK music scene. The student events have been created as part of a broad programme of work experience initiatives facilitated by Creative & Cultural Skills’ Academy network, designed to give young people the experience they need to get into careers in the creative industries.
