Staff from City College Plymouth’s Work-based Learning department will be presenting two local animal charities - Woodside and Gables - with cheques from money they have raised this Friday.
The money was raised through a charity dog show held in June. College staff had 13 different categories, in which to enter their dogs, ranging from ‘the dog with the waggiest tail’ to ‘the best dressed dog’.
Head of Work-based Learning at the College, Julie Mclean, said:
“We had a fantastic day and really enjoyed having fun with our four-legged friends! The atmosphere was brilliant and everyone joined in with the fun, and raised a total of £224 for such worthwhile causes.”
Students at the College organising the event as part of their course and helped to raise funds and raffle prizes, promoted the event, liaised with local charities, organised the stalls and helped out on the day by setting-up and co-ordinating the event.
The College’s work-based learning programmes are aimed at young people aged 16 to 25, who are unemployed, unexcited and unsure of the future. The programmes encourage the development of practical skills, self-belief and help with getting a job.
